New Music Wind,
Brass and Percussion
From the wind band containing all
three instrumental groups to dedicated ensembles of brass,
from wind and percussion to Harmoniemusiken, and
from small-scale chamber combinations of mixed timbres and
solos with and without accompaniment, there is a wealth of
material to explore within Nigel Morgan’s current portfolio.
The rich spectrum of colours and articulations possible in
modern wind playing perfectly complements the composer’s
intricate yet democratic play of instrumental forces. Performers
associated with this new repertoire include the RNCM wind
orchestra, Forsvarets Distriktsmusikkorps Nord-Norge, the
brass section of Opera North, Woodnotes Quartet, wind soloists
from BBCNOW, Tom Redmond of the Halle, and jazz musician Tony
Coe.
